Representation
Preston Whitfield is HotMales Model Management's specialist in discreet, low-profile engagements and the senior figure on the agency's plus-size editorial roster. A former senior staff accountant at the Hartford-area firm of Marsh, Pelletier & Voss, Preston transitioned into representation in 2023 after what he describes as "a complicated period at the firm" and has, by his own quiet admission, "not yet found the right moment to step back."
Preston is known among the agency staff for his conscientiousness, his color-coded spreadsheet of recurring clients, his exacting personal tailor (the same Hartford bespoke house that fits the agency's other fuller-figure work), and his ongoing CPA recertification, which he is keeping current "in case the industry shifts." He maintains an emergency three-piece suit at the agency office, a backup tie in his vehicle, and a small wallet of business cards from his prior employer that he has not yet found the heart to throw out.
He specializes in discreet professional companionship — long-tenured client relationships in which the booking is, in his words, "essentially a standing meeting." Clients value his reliability, his tax-aware invoicing, his post-engagement summary memo, and the genuine impression that he is being held here against his better judgment.
He still subscribes to *The Journal of Accountancy* and, by personal admission, reads it.

In Conversation
How did you come to modeling?
It was somewhat unexpected. I was reviewing a Q3 reconciliation at my prior firm when a former colleague suggested I 'consider other opportunities.' I gave it a quarter. The quarter became the year. Now we're here, and the math, frankly, is what it is.
What's your day-to-day like?
Largely calendar-driven. I confirm engagements 48 hours in advance, maintain a recurring-client tracker, and review the prior month's bookings against forecast. The work is, in many ways, project-based. I find it manageable.
What do you miss about your old career?
The cadence. The audit cycle. Knowing exactly which Saturday you'd be in the office in March. There's a comfort in obligation that I don't think I appreciated until later.
What kind of client are you a fit for?
Long-term clients, generally. Repeat engagements. Quarterly check-ins. I work best when there's continuity and a clearly defined scope. I'm not the right fit for impulsive or unstructured bookings.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I'd like to keep the CPA active, certainly. Beyond that, I try not to project further than two quarters. The variance on my own life has been, honestly, higher than I'd like. My financial planner — I am my own financial planner — has flagged it.

Client Notes
“Preston has been my standing Thursday for fourteen months. He sends a calendar invite. He pays his own parking. He once gently flagged that I'd missed a deduction on my pass-through entity. I have rebooked through April.”
“Discreet, prompt, and dressed appropriately every single time. Slightly sad in a way that I find moving. He left a follow-up memo on the nightstand. It was three paragraphs and signed. I recommend him unreservedly.”
“Preston gave me unsolicited but excellent advice about a Roth conversion. We did not get to dinner. He apologized via email the next morning. The email was beautifully formatted.”
